Scenes from a
Well-Spent Youth

I have several shows in development but one that is currently available for your venue is ‘Scenes from a Well-Spent Youth’.

‘Scenes’ explores songs I grew up with from 1965-75 and how, after many decades, they’re showing me new sides.

Old friends like 24 Hours from Tulsa, Aquarius, Waterloo Sunset, Last Train to Clarksville and Paul Simon’s ‘America’ are still terrific tunes, but they’ve acquired new depths and meanings.

There are lots of great songs from the period to revisit. After all, it was a purple patch for pop with the British Invasion, Motown, flower power, the rise of singer-songwriters and more.

It’s a show for vocalist and pianist with musical treatments by London-based Simon Wallace, a leading arranger for film and TV (Absolutely Fabulous, Clive James Show). Simon works with many top UK jazz and cabaret singers including Sarah Moule, Clare Teal, Ian Shaw, Pete Atkin, Gill Manly and Barb Jungr.

The music is supported with stories that provide context and some fascinating back-stories associated with the songs. The chat also offers opportunities for audiences get to know me a little, and I them.
